Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Fridgy handles your information across the iPhone app and website. Fridgy is independently developed and operated by Khamid Kholmatov.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not use your food, photo, or health information (including Apple Health) for third-party advertising.

Information We Collect

Account credentials. You can sign in with Apple or Google, or create an account with an email address and password. With Apple or Google, we receive a basic account identifier and your email address, and (if your provider shares it) your name — we never see your Apple or Google password. If you use email sign-in, we store your email address and a securely hashed password; we never store your password in readable form.
Profile and health-related details. During onboarding and in your profile you may provide your name, gender, date of birth, height, weight, activity level, training types, dietary styles, food allergies, and your goal. We use these to calculate your calorie and macro targets and to tailor recipes. We treat this as sensitive health and fitness information.
Your logs and content. Foods you log, water you log, weight check-ins, the ingredients in your fridge, and recipes you generate or save are stored with your account so they sync across your devices.
Photos you scan. When you scan your fridge or a meal — either with the camera or by choosing an existing photo from your library — the app captures the image and sends a downscaled copy to our AI provider to identify foods and estimate nutrition (see “Photos and AI Processing” below).
Progress photos. If you add body/progress photos, they are kept on your device only and are never uploaded to our servers or shared with third parties.
Apple Health data (optional). If you enable Apple Health, the app reads and writes certain health and fitness data on your device (see “Apple Health” below).
Subscription information. If you buy Fridgy Premium, we receive your subscription status, plan, trial status, and the purchase/receipt data needed to unlock and validate your subscription (see “Subscriptions and Payments” below). We never receive your full card number or payment credentials.
App preferences. Theme, light/dark mode, language, and unit preferences (measurement system, food and water units).
Limited usage counts. We keep a per-day count of AI scans and recipe generations per account to prevent abuse and control costs. This is a simple counter, not a behavioral profile.

We do not collect your location, we do not access your microphone or contacts, and we do not include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.

How We Use Your Information

To create and secure your account.
To calculate your nutrition targets and personalize recipes to your goal, dietary styles, and allergies.
To detect ingredients in your fridge and estimate the nutrition of your meals from photos.
To look up food and product nutrition when you search or scan a barcode.
To sync your data across your devices and keep the app working reliably.
To provide and manage Fridgy Premium, including free trials and subscription status.
To sync data with Apple Health when you choose to enable it.
To send optional on-device reminders (such as expiring-food, meal, and trial reminders) if you allow notifications.

Photos and AI Processing

When you use fridge scan or meal scan, a downscaled copy of the photo is sent to OpenAI to identify the foods and estimate their nutrition. The photo is processed only to produce that result — Fridgy does not store your scan photos on its servers. Only the results (such as detected ingredient names and estimated calories and macros) are saved to your account so you can review and edit them. Images are sent to OpenAI under its API terms; under those terms, this content is not used to train OpenAI’s models.

Recipe suggestions are generated by sending your fridge ingredients (or your search query and filters) along with your dietary styles, allergies, and goal to OpenAI to produce recipe text. Food searches are sent to the USDA FoodData Central database to return nutrition information.

Barcode Scanning

When you scan a product barcode, the barcode number is sent to the Open Food Facts database to look up the product name, brand, and nutrition information. Only the barcode is sent; the returned details are shown so you can log the item.

Apple Health

Apple Health integration is optional and only active if you grant permission. When enabled:

Fridgy reads your body weight, steps, and active and resting energy (and workouts) to show your progress and energy balance.
Fridgy writes the meals (calories and macros), water, and weight you log so they appear in Apple Health.

This data is exchanged directly with Apple Health on your device. We do not use Apple Health data for advertising or marketing, and we do not share it with third parties. You can review or revoke Fridgy’s Health permissions at any time in the iOS Settings → Health or the Health app.

Subscriptions and Payments

Fridgy Premium is sold as an auto-renewing subscription (monthly or annual, sometimes with a free trial). Payment is processed by Apple through your App Store account — we never receive or store your card number or payment credentials. We use RevenueCat to manage and validate subscriptions; RevenueCat processes your App Store purchase/receipt data, a Fridgy-generated app user identifier, and basic device information to confirm your entitlement and keep it in sync across your devices. RevenueCat acts as our service provider and does not use this data for its own advertising.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, Fridgy schedules reminders on your device (such as food-expiry, meal, and trial-ending reminders). These are local notifications — Fridgy does not operate a marketing push server. You can turn notifications off inside the app or in iOS Settings at any time.

Where Your Information Is Stored

Your information is stored on your device and in our cloud backend, Supabase, which provides authentication, database, and secure serverless functions for cross-device sync. API keys for our AI and food-data providers are kept on the server and are not included in the app.

Third-Party Services

Fridgy relies on the following providers, each with its own terms and privacy practices:

Supabase — account, database, and backend functions.
Apple — Sign in with Apple, App Store distribution, subscription billing, and Apple Health.
Google — Google sign-in.
OpenAI — fridge/meal photo analysis and recipe generation.
USDA FoodData Central — food nutrition search.
Open Food Facts — barcode product lookup.
RevenueCat — subscription management and validation.

We select these providers to support core functionality, but we are not responsible for their independent practices, outages, or changes.

Your Choices and Controls

Camera and photo permissions. Fridge, meal, and barcode scanning need camera access, and scanning from an existing photo needs photo-library access. You can decline or revoke these in iOS Settings; the rest of the app continues to work, and you can always add fridge items and log foods manually.
Apple Health. You can enable or revoke Health access at any time in iOS Settings → Health.
Notifications. You can enable or disable reminders in the app or in iOS Settings.
Subscription. You can view, change, or cancel Fridgy Premium in your App Store account settings; Apple handles billing and cancellations.
Edit your data. You can edit your profile, logged foods, fridge items, and saved recipes at any time in the app.
Delete your account. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data in the app under Profile → Delete account. This removes your profile, food logs, fridge items, water logs, weight check-ins, and saved recipes.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live (for example, the EU/UK or California), you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise the core of these rights directly in the app — editing your data and deleting your account — or contact us for assistance. We do not sell your personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

International Users

Fridgy is available internationally, and some of our providers (such as Supabase and OpenAI) may process data in the United States or other countries. By using Fridgy, you understand that your information may be processed in countries with different data-protection laws than your own. We rely on our providers’ safeguards for such transfers.

Data Retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your associated data is deleted from our database.

Children’s Privacy

Fridgy is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Fridgy evolves. Material changes will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, be noted in the app or on the website. Continued use after changes indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
